TWO RUN CLUBS THAT GO FAR BEYOND JUST RUNNING
Please reach us out if you cannot find an answer to your question.
The Wolves depart Leighton Beach every Saturday morning at 6:00am.
The SHEwolves depart the same location at 6:30am.
The Saturday runs for both clubs are conducted at a social pace and ran as a group. A true club run, the “chat ‘n’ trot”!
On Tuesday’s, the Wolves RC holds structured training (intervals, hills, speed work etc) at 6:00am. The location varies week to week. In the future the SHEwolves will likely offer a similar session.
Both clubs run rain, hail, or shine!
Both clubs are all about improving together, on and off the track. Whether you are already crushing ultramarathons, or you are just looking to meaningfully improve your running - there is a spot for you with the Wolves & SHEwolves.
The Wolves social runs are conducted at roughly 5:30-6:00/km pace for 7-8km.
The SHEwolves social runs are conducted at roughly 5:45-6:15/km pace for the same distance.
If this is beyond you at the moment, reach out to us and find out how else you can get involved in the club!
There is no set number, but we will intentionally limit the size of the clubs so we can foster a proper club environment. It's about building a real community, not an audience.
We are setup this way to facilitate an environment where those running with us feel entirely comfortable having a chat about any issues they are facing and being supported by their peers. It gives our members a unique environment to open up, and aligns with evidenced based research regarding mental health and promoting help seeking behaviour in the event it's needed. For lack of a better description, we often refer to the groups as "safe spaces" for the women (SHEwolves RC) and men (Wolves RC) involved in the clubs.
We are two clubs but with clear shared values and purpose. We mutually support each other and host a range of combined events and initiatives.
Both clubs share a love of running and promoting mental health awareness.
If you identify in a different way, reach out and we can work out the environment that might best suit you.
Each member can determine their own level of involvement in the club. For some, that might mean just training and wearing the Wolves or SHEwolves logo proudly which in itself helps break down social stigma towards mental health. For others it will mean going all-in and being involved in our ongoing charity work, public speaking and other ventures.
The Wolves and the SHEwolves each provide safe spaces for our members to have meaningful conversations, and form new support networks and mateships/connections.
In addition to enjoying our love of running and fostering an awesome community, our key ambition is to help create a world where discussing a mental health situation or condition is no different to that of a physical one. Where the stigma surrounding mental health challenges no longer exists. And where the wider community's acknowledgement and understanding regarding mental health and ill-health is significantly improved compared to where it stands today.
