A CLUB FOR RUNNERS WHO WANT TO GIVE BACK
Please reach us out if you cannot find an answer to your question.
The Wolves depart Leighton Beach every Saturday morning at 6:00am. The SHEwolves depart the same location at 6:45am.
The Saturday runs for both groups are conducted at a social pace and ran together as a group. A true club run, the “trot ‘n’ chat”!
We run rain, hail or shine.
We are set up differently to most other run clubs. We often reference our club ethos of 'small club, big impact'. While it is entirely free, we intentionally limit membership numbers to ensure we foster a tight-knit community and bring together runners who are willing to help us achieve some ambitious community focused goals.
Our Saturday social runs are typically 8km in length, so members need to be able to get through that distance noting that our social runs are ran together as a group.
The Wolves and the SHEwolves sub-groups each provide healthy spaces for our members to have meaningful conversations, and form new support networks and mateships/connections.
We are setup this way to facilitate an environment where those running with us feel entirely comfortable having a chat about any issues they are facing and being supported by their direct peers. It gives our members a unique environment to open up with problems that might have been experienced by others in similar situations and promotes help seeking behaviour in the event it's needed.
While we have two sub-groups, we are one organisation with a clear set of values.
If you identify in a different way, reach out and we can work out the environment that might best suit you!
Given that memberships are limited and the club's emphasis on giving back, we encourage members to be as invested as they can manage. Attending Saturday socials, being active in the club chats, attending club events, are all different ways to be involved.
In addition to enjoying our love of running and fostering an awesome community, our key ambition is to help create a world where discussing a mental health situation or condition is no different to that of a physical one. Where the stigma surrounding mental health challenges no longer exists. And where the wider community's acknowledgement and understanding regarding mental health and ill-health is significantly improved compared to where it stands today.
